Austrian Government 1922
From 1920 the Oesterreichisch-Ungarische Bank had to stop its activities in Hungary. It was now solely responsible for the Austrian money. The issue of more and more banknotes destroyed the stability of the money and led to increased inflation. This rising inflation can be observed by the introduction of higher denominated banknotes. It culminated in the issue of a 500,000 Kronen banknote in 1922. In addition to the banknotes issued by the Oesterreichisch-Ungarische Bank much emergency money was issued by other institutions, which increased the effect of inflation further.
