Austrian Banknotes

Austrian banknote 20 Schilling 1945 From the introduction of paper money in Austria there were four different currencies used in the country (partially in parallel): Gulden, Krone, Reichsmark and Schilling. Like in any country the monetary history is closely connected to the economic and political history of the country. And the money frequently becomes embroiled in the workings of time.

The following pages describe the different banknotes issued in Austria:
  • Oesterreichisch-Ungarische Bank 1880-1918
  • Oesterreichisch-Ungarische Bank 1919-1922
